When people look at you what do they see, do they see Christ?

24th May 2012
Sunday

On the 23rd of May 2012 during my study leave my mum informed me a neighbour needed urgent prayer and around 3 pm we had an appointment at a neighbour’s house a road away to pray and God had a divine appointment. Christopher Pillay (a family friend), Vannessa Govender (Best friend/Spiritual Twin and prayer partner), my mother Vinothi Naidoo and I went on a mission to pray. Before the prayer team and I entered territory of this family. I heard someone scream and I felt as if they looked towards our direction. It was difficult hearing through a noisy car driving by and boys talking nearby accompanied by barking Dogs. We followed the voice to see it was the neighbour who just so happens to be related to me (Maternal-Grandmothers first cousin). Now there is not a place I go where I do not find a family member. I went to campus and found a relative. This my dear friends is in another post altogether.
Aunt Punji (interesting name hey, no pun intended hehehehehhuha) said to my mum to please bring us (prayer team) to pray at her house thereafter because she really needs the prayer. We smiled to see how God opened another door for us as a prayer team show casing Christ, fighting against darkness, representing Kainos Covenant Community and as secret agents (A previous blog post).

After praying we went next door. This vibrant Lady said to my mother, “I DO NOT HAVE TO ASK WHERE IS YOUR DAUGHTER OR ASK IF THIS IS YOUR DAUGHTER. I CAN SEE IT IN THE FACE”. I blushed and then I laughed because I get that a lot in fact people get so confused it’s hilarious for mum and I. We have accepted it because we are blood and we cannot change it. I am called by my mother’s name in countless occasions.
Once I was poking with my first cousin Jachin Samuel Jainarain who is now 9. Before running away from him I gave him hard hit and ran for my life. I went to my mum’s room and I took a breather on her bed. Jachin comes in and complains to me about ME.
 Can you imagine?
My acting skills kicked in and I played along. I was convincing up until my mother magically appeared all confused asking Jachin what is going on when she is down stairs.
One of many (thinking)
Looking like your mother is either an insult or it can be a compliment.
Insult because I look old and compliment all because my mother is smart, young and a pretty lady.
P.S Mum I know you are blushing HEHE

Before we left she made a very important statement which got my brain cells thinking to its maximum. This elderly lady said to me I am the RUBBER STAMP OF MY MOTHER. It is the first time either of us heard these words used to describe the replica and exact image of anything for that matter. When we bid farewell I was the last person to hug and kiss her before I leave the house, our Indian cultures-hugging and kissing, not that I mind, so the hugging type.
She said to me you have the exact face of your mum. I heard her the first time, she did not have any form of Alzheimer’s, that’s for sure but just maybe she was so much in shock of how much at twenty-two I look like my mother double my age. It seemed far beyond looks but character too.

Alexander John Govender (mentioned in my introduction and my post called “When you die what Legacy are you leaving behind?”) jokes around a lot. I laugh myself sick every time I spend weekends in South Africa, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Phoenix. John says if you want to know what your wife (Andrea {Logandrie}Govender)will look like when she is old try looking at her mother  (Angela {Saras} Chetty) {Maternal} and he claims he saw his mother in law and knew it was safe . HEHEHE ummh makes one think

When people look at you do they say you look like Jesus?
Do they say you have character traits of Jesus?
When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
Some of is avoid looking in the mirror because reality kicks in.
(Read post called acting)
Paul in the Bible speaks of being imitators of Christ and we must also be doers of the word.
It makes perfect sense. If we are to become Christ like we need to imitate our role model, which is Christ and Christ is the word made flesh so we need to be doers of the word.

1 Corinthians 4 V 16
I beg you therefore, be imitators of me and goes on in 1 Corinthians 11 V 1 “Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ”.

Ephesians 5 V 1 as Beloved Children be imitators
We set examples and are role models to people around us and those whom we influence as Philippians 3 v 17 says “Brother, be imitators together of me, and note those who walk this way, even as you have us as an example”
Remember the previous post on Gods promises; in fact the Bible is full of it. If you want to inherit them, DO NOT BE SLUGGISH. Hebrews 6 V 12 says “Do not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherited the promises”
We will be protected from evil if we become imitators 1 Peter 3V13 “Now who will harm you, if you become imitators of that which is good”
